Foster Kids

Share the gift of LOVE:  Foster Kids

All kids need love.  And making sure that every child is loved when they need it most is the heart and soul of the Rigålu Foundation’s work.  Foster kids, foster families and the services and volunteers that support them can always count on a helping hand from the Rigålu Foundation.
The Rigålu Gift Exchange for Guam’s foster kids is a year-round mission.  With school uniform and shoe drives that help foster kids stay in school, making sure Christmas presents find their way to a foster child’s tree and to special get-togethers at the Liberation Day Carnival, the Rigålu Foundation takes every opportunity to brighten a foster child’s day.
Foster children in our community outnumber licensed foster families.  And sometimes, they outnumber the places we have for them to stay at all – leaving no choice for a lonely foster child to be cared for in a youth correctional facility.
The Rigålu Foundation is committed to making sure that this worst-case-scenario is never an option.
Help build the Rigålu House.  Because every child, no matter their circumstance, deserves a safe, loving home-away-from-home.

Thank you, Guam, for you generous donations.

You helped to make the "Gift of Love Telethon"
a wonderful success!

At any given time, Guam can have more than 200 children under Child Protective Services.  With less than 30 licensed foster families, there remains a great need for emergency shelter facilities to care for local foster children.

The First Lady 's Rigålu Foundation has committed its effort to build “The Rigålu House,” an emergency shelter to house Guam’s foster children.  The "Gift of Love Telethon", first started in 2012, has drawn major support from local non-profit organizations, businesses and caring Guamanians who want to help.
The telethon was broadcasted live from the Cars Plus Showroom in Maite on PBS Channel 12 from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. on April 30, 2015 with live streaming in this website.  Raffle tickets for prizes included a brand new car and a baby grand prize of $5,000.00. Raffle tickets were on sale through the Rigålu Foundation.
